Abstract

Writing Best Practice study aims to improve students' learning activities and outcomes on the material of curved side solids through the application of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) learning. The study used a classroom action research approach implemented in two cycles, each including the planning stage, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were 34 students of class VIIE MTs Negeri 12 Majalengka. Data were collected through observation of learning activities and learning outcome tests. The results showed that the percentage of student learning activities increased from 8.82% in the initial conditions to 29.41% in cycle I and increased again to 52.94% in cycle II. Student learning outcomes also increased, indicated by the average class value which increased from 64.41 in the initial conditions to 72.35 in cycle I and 81.91 in cycle II. The percentage of student learning completion increased from 61.8% in the initial conditions to 73.5% in cycle I and reached 91.2% in cycle II. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of RME learning is effective in increasing student activity and learning outcomes in the curved-sided geometric shape material and creating meaningful and contextual mathematics learning.
